She was 97. She was the second eldest of seven children of Captain Georg von Trapp and his first wife Agathe Whitehead. Agathe von Trapp wrote her memoir, <i>Memories Before And After The Sound Of Music</i> which was first published in 2003 and republished last September. She admired the famous movie, but felt that it misrepresented her father, whom she felt was a loving, caring parent, unlike the strict disciplinarian portayed by Christopher Plummer in the film. The book allowed her to tell the story from a real life perspective, helping to give a more accurate picture of their lives. She was a very private person, and helped run a kindergarten in Glyndon, Maryland, with her friend Mary Louise Kane. She was also a very talented artist, and wrote a book titled <i>Art In The Trapp Family</i>. She also had a flare for working with wood, creating her own pieces of furniture and decorating wooden bowls and plates for her own home. Agathe's death leaves four surviving members of the Trapp Family Singers: Maria von Trapp, 96 (from Captain von Trapp’s first marriage); Rosmarie von Trapp, 81; Eleonore 'Lorli' von Trapp Campbell, 79; and Johannes, 71 (from Captain von Trapp’s second marriage).
