Trapp Lodge

My visit to the Trapp Family Lodge was just wonderful. All the rooms and buildings were absolutely charming, and the scenery was spectacular! Throughout the buildings there was original film memorabilia and photographs of von Trapp history. My favorite place to eat was at the tea room which is housed in the same facility as the gift shop. The authentic Bavarian food was delicious, and the Austrian Tea Room (which served dinner foods till five pm) had prices that were not as expensive as the gourmet restaurant in the main lodge building. Each afternoon there were complimentary cookies and tea served to the guests, and I highly recommend the Lodge's exclusive Linzertorte which was fabulous!

The Lodge must be very good to their employees, because there were some ladies who had worked there for thirty years! While I didn't get to meet any of the Trapps personally, one of my family members spoke twice with Johannes who was very warm and inviting.

My family visited in the fall, when the "hills were alive" with the brilliant hues of the leaves. It was absolutely breathtaking! If you are considering taking your famiy on vacation this year, you couldn't ask for a better location. The hotel is thoughtfully set up to accomodate children with their family game room.

Auf wiedersehen!

I have also visited the Trapp Family Lodge, and I must say I echo the sentiments so aptly shared by the author - it's a wonderful place for a family vacation.
